  1. Apr 11,  · The Vapors first album, New Clear Days was far from the upbeat, quirky pop that the big single would seem to suggest, but Magnets, their followup left behind almost any attempt at being misinterpreted as a silly pop band. Not surprisngly, it got lost. A shame, as it’s actually even better than New Clear Days highest points.

  4. Magnets revealed a power pop sound and darker lyrics, with the song "Jimmie Jones" making reference to cult leader Jim Jones. That album sold poorly and the band broke up in [1] Fenton alleged in a later interview with Record Collector magazine that lack of record label support was the chief reason for the band's split, while a planned.

  5. The evidence: They've spawned more greatest-hits packages than they had albums. Anthology is the best introduction, with the entire US version of their debut, New Clear Days, and four-key tracks (including "Jimmie Jones") from Magnets. It omits the latter album's great "Daylight Titans," but you can't have everything on a single CD/5(5).

  6. There isn't much in the way of bonuses, but "Galleries For Guns" is a major asset on this disc. The Vapors may have trailed four years late in the wake of sharper commentators such as Elvis Costello, but "Magnets" is an enjoyable and rewarding album which deserves more attention. 7. Magnets is an album that at first sounds like it is not a good follow up to New Clear Days. However, after listing to it the 2nd time (back in haha), I was stunned to find out that every single song was not just great, but incredible!!!! This was one record, that I could say had not one bad song/5(16).

  8. Sep 01,  · referencing Magnets, CD, Album, MODSKA CD 12 I have to disagree on the remaster-the Captain Mod suffers from compression. The best way to get the original album is the twofer release with both this and New Clear Days on the same disc/5().
